This movie is supposedly based on a true story and Jewish mythology or folklore regarding the Dybbuk. The Dybbuk is a possessing spirit from a dislocated soul of a deceased person. They can be either good or bad and it is believed that the Dybbuk needs to hang on till it does away with unfinished business it had while still in the realm of the living. Another little fun fact: the name Dybbuk was the code name given to Nazi Lieutenant Colonel Otto Adolf Eichmann by the Israeli Mossad officers who captured him.
