Some of my all-time favorite movies take place around Christmas or are Christmas themed. Call me a big softy or a sentimental old fool, but I like feel good movies. In a real world full of nastiness, hate and anger it is nice to escape into a world where everything works out, where wishes do come true and where anything is possible. Some of these movies make you laugh, some make you cry and the really good ones will make you do both, but all of them should fill you with a sense of happiness and joy.

It’s that time of the year when you have to ask yourself; Are you ready for some football? My answer is always, unequivocally, YES! I love the game of football. During the football season I immerse myself in all things pigskin. I have DIRECTV so I can have NFL Sunday Ticket (and because I live in the middle of nowhere, but I do like it better than the other one.) I watch as many games per week as I can, I follow stats, I have several Fantasy Football teams (Reigning champion in a couple different leagues!) and I talk about the gridiron as often as I can. So yeah, I kinda like the game, it makes sense I enjoy movies about this great sport. I am a sucker for sports movies in general and eat up any film that has football at its center.

When I think of ‘cool’ some of the names that pop into my head are: Frank Sinatra, George Clooney, Don Cheadle, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, James Dean, Sean Connery… But the first name that flashes in my head is always Bruce Campbell. The man is just cool. He has leading man good looks and comedic timing that is second to none. I wrote a screenplay and one of the characters I wrote specifically for the man, the myth, the legend that is Bruce Campbell.
Born and raised in Michigan he met a trio of brothers in high school who cemented his fate. Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Ted Raimi assimilated Bruce, along with other friends in the neighborhood, and they made tons of super-8 films. From those shorts he honed his sardonic wit, unflappable bravado and dead-pan delivery. All that helped him become the greatest B-movie actor of all time.
Here is a list, in no particular order, of my favorite Bruce Campbell roles.

We all have them; a movie we always have to watch, a song we always turn up and sing a little louder to, a TV show that we indulge in whenever we can… Whatever it may be, we love out guilty pleasures. And we shouldn’t be embarrassed by what we like. We should relish in it. We should wear our guilty pleasures on our chest like a badge of honor. Embrace what you like and forget what others may think; because I assure you, they have a guilty pleasure or two in their closet.
To not be a hypocrite I am going to air my guilty pleasure laundry for all the world to see. Why? Because I don’t care who knows or what they think! I am proud to like what I like and I will tell you why I like what I like… Like for sure… like totally… like… Like… Ok, got stuck in a valley girl loop there, sorry about that…

Graduations are happening all across the country which got me to thinking of my favorite movies about the end of school. Both college and high school students are ending one school year and either looking forward to the next or starting a new life away from academia. Whatever the case may be, summer is coming which brings some well-deserved freedom. Freedom to watch a movie or have an adventure of your own!

The end of an era happens tonight on Fox. For the past eight seasons Dr. Gregory House has dazzled and entertained us. With his trusty best friend James Wilson and his band of cohorts, they have made us feel every emotion more than once. Hugh Laurie has played this caustic anti-hero to perfection. I have been a fan of this show from day one. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have watched these episodes. House is one of those shows, for me, that if it is on I will switch to it and just have it playing.
I have compiled a list of 21 of my favorite episodes from the past eight seasons. I love all of them, but these would be the ones I would take with me on a deserted island. I am only going to intro a few of the episodes on the list, otherwise this post would get waaaaaaaay to long.
(Ok, so I got on a roll and wrote a little about 15 of them… )
