This is a true classic that is making its way to the big screen with several good actors in the cast. At face value it looks like Baz Luhrmann has captured that stylized, art deco look and feel of the time period. So for that he gets the highest marks. And I have no doubt this movie will be in the running for the art direction, costuming and those types of awards when the season rolls around.
That just leaves the aforementioned cast. With a heavy hitter like Leo taking the lead and the slurry of B+ to A- actors on the docket, this could just be a contender. We have to wait till Christmas to see if it is any good.
