Lists are fun. Compiling them, reading them, thinking about them… I enjoy that. When I stumbled upon this questionnaire somewhere in the social meadiaverse I saved it thinking that it would be a good list to share with my readers; and possible fill out myself.
It is rather long and some of the questions really sent me thinking. Which I think is a good thing. Because of all the thought I put into filling this out it took me a sizable amount of time to complete. But I think it was worth it.
The buttons that take you to other worlds
I now share with you my ‘Songs That…’list. Let me know what you think and please feel free to fill this out yourself and post it in the comments. (I will include, in the comments section, a clean list for you to copy for yourselves) I would love to hear your musical choices!

If you aren’t familiar with this folk rock awesomness you should be. The Irishman with the powerful voice, Glen Hansard, and the piano playing Czech with the angelic voice, Markéta Irglová, form this award winning duo. The have a wonderful sound and they are one of my all-time favorites. The Swell Season have several wonderful songs (Into The Mystic, Low Rising, Lies, Feeling the Pull, When Your Minds Made Up… to name a few) but their most famous song by far is ‘Falling Slowly’. The sun is shining (for once) the birds are singing and I am stuck inside. Go figure on the first nice day in at least a week I have a bajillion things to do to get ready to go away for the next few days; and none of them include outside time! Ah well, such is life. To help me through the indoor malaise I loaded up my player and hit shuffle. Here are the first five for ya!

These guys have been putting out consistently good music for the last, what is it now, 5 years… Always topping the charts, playing sold out venues, winning awards and having a good time doing it. I love these guys. They’re group of guys who I wouldn’t mind hanging out with on a Saturday night around a bonfire somewhere. A few drinks, a few laughs, someone pulls out an acoustic guitar and we all join in singing some favorites. That would be a damn fine time.
Zac Brown Band
Maybe someday I will get to do that, but for now I will go there in my mind as I listen to a few of my favorite ZBB songs. Sit back and enjoy them with me! (more…)

NPH on The 67th Annual Tony Awards
There isn’t much to say beyond: Neil Patrick Harris is unbelievable. UN-FREAKIN-BELIVABLE… Wow… Hey Academy Awards… Yeah you! Consider the 4 times NPH has hosted the Tony’s as the perfect audition tapes. Seriously. Make this happen.

Let me explain. No, that will take too long. Let me sum up. It has been raining for the last couple days and it doesn’t look to clear up anytime soon. Yet I have had this song stuck in my head all weekend. Must be a case of mind over matter. Whatever it is, this is just a catchy song that always puts a smile on my face!
Walken on Sunshine
And so does the image I have included.
Happy Monday everyone!!!

Anna Kendrick is awesome. Everything I have seen her in from ‘Up in the Air’ to ‘50/50’ to ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ to ‘Pitch Perfect’, she has been just that pitch perfect. Even her voice over in ‘Paranorman’ was one of the better things about that movie. (I have not seen a single Twilight movie, but I am sure she would be the only think I like about them if I did watch.)
Now she has made a video for the song she sang at the auditions in ‘Pitch Perfect’ and I believe I’ve watched it at least a dozen times. I can’t get enough of Anna Kendrick. We need to hang out.
If you want to see some bonus Anna Kendrick (and frankly who doesn’t?) Check out my post for the Ben Folds Five’s song ‘Do It Anyway’. It has Anna Kendrick, Chris Hardwick and the Fraggles! Throw in Ben Folds and you have a quadfecta of awesome!

Now this, among a myriad of things, makes me feel old; Huey Lewis and the News’ album ‘Sports’ turns 30 this year. 30! Huey was 33 when ‘Sports’ came out which means he turns 63 in July of this year. WTF? Where has the time gone?
Huey Lewis and the News
I remember that HLatN was everywhere back then. Just about every time you turned on the radio one of their songs was playing on the radio. ‘Sports’ had 5 charting singles on it, 4 that hit the top 10, and it was certified 7x platinum just in the US. The follow up ‘Fore!’ continued the success with 5 top 10 hits, 2 number 1 hits and it was certified 3x platinum. Oh yeah, in between those two albums they had their first #1 hit off the ‘Back to the Future’ soundtrack. It lost the Best Original Song Oscar to ‘Say You, Say Me’ by Lionel Richie from the ‘White Nights’ soundtrack.
Needless to say HLatN has had a long and storied career. I can always throw on their music and be happy. Which for me is the hallmark of a good band. Here are a few of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
