The highly stylized noir graphic novel is getting a second shot at the box office. The original 2005 ‘Sin City’ was stunning in its jump from page to screen; Frank Miller’s source material never looked better. For the sequel he and Robert Rodriguez bring us back to Basin City and crank up everything. The look is just as stunning. Here’s all they are saying so far about this one:

I came across this trailer and said to myself, “Self… this could be amusing.” Politics, sex, moral dilemmas and one man who has the job of trying to keep everyone’s hopes of staying in office, or getting into office, alive. It is listed as a drama but the trailer plays the more to the comedic side of the aisle. No matter which way it actually goes there is a ton of great talent in this film; Rob Lowe, Carrie-Anne Moss, Julie Bowen, Eric McCormack, and Jennifer Morrison to name a few.

The movie had a limited release but will be on DVD this June. If you can’t wait till June it is currently available to stream from Amazon Instant Video if you are so inclined.

The Man with the Iron Fists

This film marks not only the screenwriting debut but also the feature fim directing debut of Wu-Tang Clan alum RZA. He actually triple threats in this, getting in front of the camera as well. RZA co-wrote this look into feudal China with Eli Roth. The movie is about a small town blacksmith who is forced to defend himself and his fellow townsfolk. With Eli Roth’s paws on this, you know it is going to be bloody and violent but this time it is more tongue in cheek than his signature ‘gore porn’.  They are taking on the kung-fu genre very seriously but keeping it fun and possibly campy. I think it is worth a watch.

(It should go without saying but I will say this anyway. This is the Red Band Trailer so it is NSFW, mostly because of the violence)
