The original 2005 ‘Sin City’ was stunning in its jump from page to screen; Frank Miller’s source material never looked better. I think it’s a fact but, to be safe, in my opinion there are more horror/thriller movies written and produced each year than any other type. Mostly because they are usually made for less money and in a shorter amount of time. Also, they are quite popular. There are whole conventions dedicated to the macabre movie industry not to mention magazines, web shows, fan sites and countless tattoos. Many famous people got their start in these types of movies but over the last several years the trend has been going the other way; famous people doing horror movies.

During the 80’s child abductions were a major part of the nightly news. ‘Stranger Danger’ PSA’s and similar materials were being shown in schools and taught to kids. People were terrified of losing their children.  I remember going to Kmart when I was in 3rd grade to get an ID made. It was a program sponsored by the local police department where I was fingerprinted, had my picture taken, my vital statistics collected and all of that was put onto a replica driver’s license for my parents to keep just in case something happened to me.
